Big Tech
Big Tech, or Tech Giants, refers to the most dominant information technology companies. The term is commonly used to refer to American technology companies, specifically the five largest: Alphabet (Google), Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft. On a global scale, Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, and Xiaomi (BATX) are the Chinese equivalent of the Big Five. Big Tech can also include smaller tech companies with high valuations, such as Netflix, or non-tech companies with high-tech practices, such as the automaker Tesla. In short, Big Tech is a term used to describe the most powerful and influential technology companies, usually American companies such as Google, Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft or Chinese companies like Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, and Xiaomi. However, it can also include smaller tech companies like Netflix or non-tech companies with significant technological capabilities like Tesla.
