Bitcoin

Bitcoin is a type of digital currency that works in a decentralized manner. Transactions in Bitcoin are verified by network nodes via cryptography and recorded in a public distributed ledger called a blockchain. The cryptocurrency was created by an unknown entity in 2008 under Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin started being used as a currency in 2009 when its implementation was released as open-source software.
