Pets, also known as companion animals, are primarily kept to provide company or entertainment to humans rather than being used as working animals, livestock, or for laboratory purposes. Commonly preferred pets are those with appealing or cute appearances, intelligence, and relatable personalities. However, some pets, such as stray animals, may be taken in out of altruism and are accepted by their owners regardless of these specific characteristics.
